Raymond A. Merlin served In the United States Marine Corps for 4 years and over 28 years on the Kenosha County Sheriff’s Dept, working 3rd shift patrol and a member of the Tactical Response Team. He retired in 2019 as Sgt. in charge of the Training Division. Ray is an instructor in Defensive Tactics, Principles of Subject Control, Firearms, Professional Communications, Crowd management, and Ground Defense. Previously he has served on Advisory Committee’s for the State of WI DOJ Training and Standards Bureau. Most recently, he served as Interim Security Director for Gateway Technical College Kenosha, WI between July 2022-July 2023. He is an Adjunct instructor for Gateway Technical College-WI, Instructing for the Law Enforcement academy, in-service training, and coordinator for Specialty training. In addition, he is an Instructor for Team One and First H.E.L.P. He has his Bachelor’s Degree in Criminal Justice and Minor in Human Resource from Concordia University. Finally, he is a board member for: Tactical Advisory Committee-WI DOJ Training and Standards, Law Enforcement Torch Run for Special Olympics State Director-WI (Emeritus) Midwest Tactical Officer’s Association Board Member (Corrections) (Emeritus), POSC Advisory Committee-WI DOJ Training and Standards (Emeritus) Every Child’s Place Board Member-Kenosha.
