John Bostain Bio

John Bostain began his Law Enforcement career in 1990 serving four years in the United States Navy. In 1994, John joined the Hampton Police Division (HPD) in Hampton, Virginia where he became a Uniformed Patrol Officer and was quickly promoted to Patrol Supervisor. John was assigned to the Bicycle Patrol Unit, S.W.A.T. Team, Narcotics Investigations, Property Crimes Detective Unit and was the Lead Advisor for the Law Enforcement Exploring Post. John also served as the Lead Police Academy Instructor at the Hampton Roads Regional Academy of Criminal Justice (HRRACJ) and became Certified by the State of Virginia as a Defensive Tactics, Firearms, and Defensive Driving Instructor. In 2001 John Bostain joined the Federal Law Enforcement Training Center (FLETC) in Glynco, GA and held various positions as an Instructor, Senior Instructor, and Program Specialist during his time with the agency. In 2013, John joined Calibre Press where he became a Lead Instructor and Course Developer for the “Anatomy of Force Incidents” and “Ultimate FTO” Courses. John is also a Street Survival Seminar Instructor and certified Force Science Analyst. For the past 15 years John has been a National Trainer, instructing more than 10,000 Police Officers at State, Local, and Federal Levels. John teaches in Subject Matter – Use of Force, Officer Safety, Control Tactics, Firearms, Driving, Instructor Development and he is a Below100, LLC Certified Train the Trainer Instructor. In 2012 John became the recipient of the prestigious “Law Officer Magazine Trainer of the Year Award” recognizing his efforts and commitment to law enforcement training. John is Charter Member and Advisory Board Member for the International Law Enforcement Educators and Trainers Association (ILEETA) and the past editor of the ILEETA Journal.
